The bloom | 2019

"The bloom" is a portrayal of excessive blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) growth in Berlin lake Stößensee. These photographs were taken during one of the hottest summers in Berlin - in the year of 2018. When temperature in lakes rises, blue-green algae thrives, thus becoming toxic to the environment.

This imagery is illuminated with a source of light from beneath the water's surface. It exposes not only a striking beauty of algal bloom, but it also resembles almost apocalyptic scenario of alienated environment.
